Matthew currently works as a trauma and general counsellor in Nelspruit. Matthew formerly worked at The Netcare Union & Clinton Hospitals in Alberton as a trauma counsellor in the emergency units and general hospitals, as well as coordinating the Trauma Counsellor programme at the hospitals which included training of counsellors, counsellor supervision and liaising with hospital management and doctors.
A number of years ago Matthew also served on the board of St Francis House Hospice (Boksburg) as deputy director and as a counsellor in the hospice, at the same time he was involved with the Aids Education Center in Brakpan where he was involved in the Aids training and awareness programmes. Matthew has also worked as a youth pastor / counsellor and prior to that at the AIDS Training Information and Counselling Centre in Cape Town and as a field worker for marginalized youth. Matthew skills include adult education, NGO development and management, as well as human relations, experience based learning, planning skills, trust and community building and conflict management.
